
Oasis 1 Groundbreaking Ceremonies were held in September 2025, on our Nieuwehoop, Aggeneis and Mookodi Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sites. The three projects amount to 257 MW of capacity and 1028 MWh of storage. All projects are all located in the Northern Cape Supply Area.

The teams have started construction including: the establishment of temporary site facilities; removal of vegetation; clearing & grubbing, topsoil removal; excavations; backfilling and compaction; concrete works; in preparation for the laying of the BESS foundations.

Developed by EDF power solutions in collaboration with Mulilo, Pele Green Energy and Gibb-Crede, and awarded in the first round of South Africa’s Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (BESIPPPP), Oasis Mookodi was the first project within the Oasis 1 portfolio to achieve Financial Close on 15 November 2024, followed by Oasis Aggeneis and Oasis Nieuwehoop, on 20 November 2024. The Oasis projects will operate under a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement with South Africa’s public utility Eskom.
