The Koruson 2 (K2) cluster, with a total electricity generation capacity of 520 MW, is the first wave of projects to reach commercial and financial close, under the Envusa Energy joint venture that has been formed between Anglo American and EDF power solutions.

The Koruson 1 renewable energy project outside Middelburg on the border of the Eastern and Northern Cape provinces, comprises three wind farms, namely Phezukomoya, San Kraal and Coleskop, each with installed capacities of 140 MW, totalling 420MW. It has been developed by a consortium led by EDF power solutions, together with local BEE partners, H1 Holdings, Gibb-Crede and a local community trust, and is part of Round 5 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme.

The 34.5 MW Wesley-Ciskei Wind Farm is located just off the R72 between the towns of Wesley, Gcinisa and Hamburg in the Ngqushwa Local Municipality and supplies power to approximately 22 400 South African households.

The 24.6 MW Waainek Wind Farm is located 6 km South West of Grahamstown, along the Highlands Road in the Makana Municipality in the Eastern Cape and supplies power to approximately 22 000 South African households.

The 21 MW Chaba Wind Farm is located on the East and West side of the N2 near to Komga in the Great Kei Municipality and supplies to approximately 16 000 South African households.

The 61.5 MW Grassridge Wind Farm is located on a site that is owned by Pretoria Portland Cement Company, situated on Addo Road (R 335) within the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality in the Eastern Cape and supplies power to approximately 40 000 South African households.
